Terms of Use and Subscription
Last updated: 23 October 2026
These terms are between you and Mohamad Nur Adli ("we"), Multivision Tower, 6th Floor, Jl. Kuningan Mulia No. 9B, Kuningan, South Jakarta 12980, Indonesia, for the Journal Fairy app for Mac, the journalfairy.com website, the Journal Fairy account service and the service that turns your recordings into text and tidies them.
1. The app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Journal Fairy app on the Macs you own or control. Reading, searching, exporting and syncing your entries in the app never depend on a subscription.
Turning recordings into text, tidying, titles, tags, "Ask your journal" and weekly reflections run on our service and need an active trial or subscription. You may not resell, rent or redistribute the app, or remove or get around its account and plan checks.
2. Subscription and what's included
Journal Fairy is offered as a subscription, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly, at the price shown on journalfairy.com and at checkout. Every plan includes:
- Recording time. Weekly includes 2.5 hours of recording each billing week; Monthly and Yearly include 10 hours each month. Recording time is the length of each recording we turn into text, rounded up to the whole second, and is counted only when transcription succeeds. Transcribing a recording again counts again. On Weekly the hours start again with each billing week, on Monthly with each billing month, and on Yearly every month on the day of the month you subscribed. Unused hours do not carry over.
- Text features under fair use. Tidying, titles, tags, "Ask your journal" and weekly reflections do not count against your hours. They are subject to a fair-use limit of 3 million text tokens per account per month, which is more than ten times what normal daily journaling uses.
- All your Macs, one account. Sign in on each Mac with the same email; the hours are shared across your devices.
3. Free trial
You can try Journal Fairy free for 7 days from your first sign-in. The trial includes 5 minutes of recording in total, plus typed entries, tidying, "Ask your journal" and reflections within fair use. No payment card is needed, and the trial does not turn into a paid subscription by itself.
There is one trial per person and per Mac. To enforce this we use your email address and a device identifier created by the app (see the Privacy Policy). Trials started with extra email addresses, or by resetting a Mac, to avoid paying may be ended.
When the trial ends, or its 5 minutes are used, recording keeps working and your recordings are saved; turning them into text waits until you subscribe.
4. Payment, renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions are sold by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record, which charges you, handles taxes and issues invoices. You pay in advance for each period.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each week, month or year at the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the app under Settings → Account → Manage subscription, which opens Lemon Squeezy's customer page. When you cancel, no further charges are made and Journal Fairy keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for. Except as described in the Refund Policy, we do not refund partial periods.
If a renewal payment fails, Lemon Squeezy will try again over the following days and may ask you to update your payment details. If payment still cannot be collected, your subscription ends.
5. Extra hours
If you have an active Monthly or Yearly subscription, you can buy "10 more hours" as a one-time purchase. The 10 hours are added to your current month only and end with that month; they do not carry over. Extra hours are not available during the trial.
6. When you run out of hours
Recording is never blocked. When your hours for the week or month are used up, new recordings are still saved on your Mac and wait. They are turned into text when your hours start again, or straight away if you buy extra hours.
7. When your subscription ends
If your subscription ends (because you cancelled and the paid period is over, a payment failed, or you were refunded), your entries stay on your Mac and you can keep reading, searching, exporting and syncing them. Turning recordings into text, tidying, "Ask your journal" and weekly reflections stop. New recordings are still saved and wait until you subscribe again.
8. Price changes
We may change subscription prices. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before a new price applies to you, and it will apply only from your next renewal after that notice. If you do not want to pay the new price, you can cancel before the renewal.
9. Fair use and abuse
Journal Fairy is for your personal journal. You may not:
- share one account between several people, or resell or provide access to the service to others;
- use automated tools, scripts or other apps to send audio or text to our service, or try to get around its limits or checks;
- send content that is illegal or that you have no right to record or process;
- interfere with the service or try to reach the AI providers through it for other purposes.
You are responsible for having the consent of other people you record where the law requires it. To keep the service working for everyone, it applies hourly limits (currently 30 recordings and 300 text requests per account per hour). We may pause processing beyond fair use, and we may suspend or end accounts that break this section, with a refund of any unused prepaid period unless the abuse was deliberate.
10. Your content
Your entries, recordings and photos are yours. We claim no rights in them. They are stored on your Mac and pass through our service only to be processed, without being stored by us (see the Privacy Policy). You are responsible for keeping backups; the app's export and sync features help with this.
11. AI providers and output
Transcription runs on ElevenLabs and tidying, answers and reflections on DeepSeek, through our accounts with them. We pay for this as part of your subscription. If a provider is unavailable, processing can be tried again later; your recordings stay on your Mac in the meantime. We are not responsible for providers' outages, but we will not count hours for recordings that fail to transcribe.
AI-generated text (titles, summaries, tags, tidied text, answers, reflections) may contain mistakes. Do not rely on it for medical, legal or financial decisions.
12. Account
Keep access to your email secure; anyone who can read it can sign in to your account. You can remove devices and sign out at any time.
13. Payments and refunds
All payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record, which also handles taxes and invoices. Refunds follow our Refund Policy.
14. No warranty
The app and the service are provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
15. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including loss of data. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
16. Changes and termination
We may update these terms; we will post changes here and note them in the app, and tell you by email about material changes. You can stop using Journal Fairy and cancel your subscription at any time. Your license ends if you breach these terms. Your entries remain yours either way.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence still apply. The sale itself is made by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record under its buyer terms, which govern payment, taxes and the transaction.
